FACILITATION

Is your organization looking to host an important meeting, design a strategic retreat, tackle a sensitive topic, or celebrate a crucial milestone? Drawing upon years of teaching, organizing and directing fun, challenging and changing groups, Mint Chip Studios facilitates in-person meetings of any size. Our expert counsel will ensure your time together is well spent.  We help you to identify goals for gatherings of any size, and then develop plans to achieve them. If outside assistance is welcome and appropriate, we can also facilitate in-person meetings.

Design Principles:

Fundamentally, "less is more" sums up our approach to meetings and retreats. Face-to-face time (whether in person or virtual) is precious and should be treated as such. Depending on the agenda, formats or designs vary and are customized to align with a client’s culture.

That said, here are some key principles we follow in all meeting or retreat designs:

  1. Be clear about the goal/purpose.

  2. Be data-driven.

  3. Prepare in advance. (Expect others won't, however.)

  4. Engage everyone in attendance. Inclusion is not optional. (Said another way, if someone isn't welcome to participate, they shouldn't be included.)

  5. Be flexible and follow the energy in the group. (Always a constructive tension with #1)

  6. Be courageous. Invite all elephants into the room.

  7. Be ethical. If it doesn't feel right or fair, it likely isn't.

  8. Have faith that what needs to happen will happen.

BASIC Meeting Facilitation

When done right, gathering people together can yield powerful and lasting results.  Mint Chip Studios facilitates strategic planning meetings, annual retreats, milestone celebrations, design charrettes, employee dialogue sessions, training classes, conferences or other important assemblies.

Discovery Sessions

Sometimes the hardest problems are ones you can’t yet define. Mint Chip Studios is happy to meet with teams or groups who want to articulate thorny issues or address persistent concerns to develop wish lists or put together specific RFPs.

After Action Reviews

Has your organization undergone significant growth or change? Have you recently completed an important project? Did your team fail in attempting to reach a critical milestone? Collective reflection is one of the most powerful tools for learning and improvement.  (Just ask the Army!) Many organizations shy away from difficult conversations, while others struggle to implement effective after action reviews, increasing the chance of repeating mistakes in the future. Mint Chip Studios can design and facilitate a one-time review for your organization, or evaluate opportunities to embed assessment and reflection within ongoing operations.
